Vintage Candy Apple Red Fender Jazz Bass Guitar 1962 Reissue - Made In Japan - Has Custom USA Alnico Pickups & Electronics Includes Special Contoured Hard Case - is lightweight but durable. The Neck is Maple & the Fingerboard is Indian Rosewood. This Fender Bass was made in 1993 - 1994 at the highly revered Fender Fuji-gen Plant of the time. These particular Fenders, made in this period at Fuji-gen are highly sought after & are some of the best MIJ guitars you can find. MANY MIJ (MADE IN JAPAN) GUITARS ARE OFTEN CONSIDERED SUPERIOR TO AMERICAN ONES AND CAN GO FOR PREMIUM PRICES. HENCE FENDER USA PROHIBITING THEIR IMPORT - IN FAVOUR OF LOWER QUALITY MIM & CIJ IMPORTS. This combo of Japanese guitar with American pickup & electronics is seen as the best by many. Detailed Item Description: This is easily one of the basses I have ever played, such a stellar sound! Only selling because I really need to raise cash (I mainly play guitar not bass). I so love this bass there is a large part of me that does not want to part with it... Had instrument professionally valued. His assessment: Estimated value at around 800 Pounds, seen similar models go for more, Fujigen Fenders seen as quite collectable. Described overall condition as very good, especially for one of this age. He was impressed with the craftsmanship on the internal electronics of the instrument. The tone/pick up selectors have two 500K CTS pots and one 250K CTS pot. Apparently addition of 250K CTS pot gives it a little extra edge. Constructed from high caliber premium full body tone wood. Has been suggested previously that this is Basswood (which is what most expect). However, also been told this particular edition is actually Alder - normally used on the US guitars. Valuer said it could be Alder but was not certain. So may likely be Basswood or potentially Alder. I did not, however, wish to take guitar apart just to clarify wood type. Either way it's assured of the finest quality. No issues with the guitar. Has the odd very minor ding here and there but the overall finish is still excellent. There is some minor fret wear but he described it as non significant. Current setup setup has moderately high action - this can be tweaked easily via truss rod. ___________________________________________________ Grab yourself a vintage beauty!
